Crimp Good/Crimp Bad

What? You're calling me out on 'jacking the thread?? I'm sooo embarrassed.:haha:

Well, the discussion evolved into whether or not to crimp on tinned (soldered) wires.

My point was, heck, you don't need no stinking crimp, or even solder! :P Wrapping wire around square, sharp-edged little pegs produces excellent results, or so they said back in school.

Wire wrapping seems like an odd way to go about it, except on backplanes. I though that some of the Super-Techs on this board might have some insights, war stories or comments on that aspect of making connections.

my Dad's an old AT&T lineman.... not sure he used one but I do remember something that looked alot like that.

That is an old hand tool for wire wrapping. It carried for spot wiring jobs. We used to use battery operated tools and I spent many hours of solitude in the mainframe here at work installing cables.
